Welcome to the Web site of Cristina Manutomatoma, an agriculturist
of Easter Island, pioneering in the development of permanent cultures within the Island. In addition, Cristina is a craftswoman
- a member of a family of great craftsmen.
Cristina is successfully becoming a new landmark in the agricultural
operations of Easter Island, the most isolated place on the planet, a volcanic island in the middle of the Pacific Ocean.
She is transforming the traditional agricultural operations of the Island from that of temporary into permanet
cultivation.
Her success has been possible with the support that the Municipality of Easter Island is offering
to the Island's farmers, through the office of Science and Technology. Their objective is to help the island become
self-supplying - growing more than 30 horticultural products, emphasizing the introduction of the Maradol Papaya
with anticipated yields of 100,000 kg per cultivated hectar.
